Shoes and duck tape

Must be something in the air as Trio was blogging about shoes and duck the other day and now I'm doing the same thing. I'm racing cross country tomorrow, it'll be super muddy so I'm planning on wearing my fell racing shoes. I use this term very loosely as I've never raced in them, I've only run in them once despite having owned them over 12 months. They were something of an impulse purchase after watching a local fell race! I'm wearing them round the house with my jeans this afternoon in some desperate attempt to make my feet think they are an agreeable fit. To be honest I think they are a half size too small, the style is way too narrow for my shaped foot and I've duck taped over some bits inside that rub. I'll wear them tomorrow to serve me right for impulse purchasing, then I have a feeling I'll clean them advertise them on the FRA forum and get some that fit properly, maybe these.

STOP! if you find the inov8 fit too narrow the mudclaws will rip your feet to shreds! have a quick look on the forum and there is a massive thread about this issue. i've found that most people who don't get on with the invo8 brand speak very highly of montrail highlanders (jane is evangelical about them!) they're much better for a wider foot-not as light but do have more cushioning than the average fell shoe

Hmm, see it's tricky, I find the pair of mudrocs I have too small/narrow but I have some roclites in a bigger size that fit great and are really comfortable for running. The roclites just don't have an aggressive enough sole for xc or the fells once it's wet. I was hoping the mudclaw would strike a happy balance between the two.
