Nine

Well unless I get inspired to get out on the bike between now and bedtime nine will be another day without a ride. But, I did run a race today, a club run to celebrate one of the members turning 50, £2 entry to raise a bit of cash for charity. Meant to be a bit over 5 miles on the trails round Rivington, but..... I only half paid attention to the route map at the start, I assumed other people would know the way so I'd just stick to someone and follow. I got on the heels of the club Chairman, which set me a good pace and I thought he was unlikely to get lost, how wrong I was. It all went a bit random and it took us a while to get to the finish, I guess we did about 7 or so miles. I have no idea of my race time either because I didn't wear a watch and I forgot to ask the official time-keeper, I was more interested in getting my finish line can of beer. All really good fun.

I've got a few other running races lined up this month and to be honest I doubt I'll attempt to ride on any of those days, I don't want to end up injured or so tired I get sick. There are a few of us in the challenge, I guess everyone has their own reasons for doing it and their own views on what constitutes success or failure. My reasons for doing it are to have some fun and give my fitness a pre-Christmas boost. It's already had an added bonus of being a way to make some new friends (waves to fellow 30/30ers). Based on the first nine days I already know I'll get to November 30th and feel good about what I've achieved, that to me means success, come the end of the month I'll not be agonising over the odd missed ride.

I like that a beer for finishing! Sounds a good race. Let me know what races you are doing the rest of the month, I now have my calendar sorted! Only doing really local cross races so I can ride to them if needs be!

It was more a fun run than a race, everybody had a prize, but we did wear numbers! Other races this month are a 5k trail run on Nov 16th and the Darwen Fell run on the 30th.

Can you send me link to 5k trail run again, I'm racing cross on the 30th so that one is out! But 5k is within the distance I know I can run now!

Good for you out running today! I think *any* activity really counts toward the 30/30 ;)

Did think about doing the Dave Staff but am entered for the Wesham 10K on the Saturday - though I don't think I'm going to kill myself on it for a change, will be my slowest running of this race I think. Will see how my legs are afterwards....
