Kit

I'll 'fess up to being a total kit junkie. Current objects of desire are an OMM Kamleika, I fancied the smock (less zips, less pockets = less weight, less to break) but I had a little try on in Up and Running t'other day and the jacket fits better, so now I don't know what to do, if I want a smock there is the Haglofs one, but it's pricier. Also after some waterproof trousers to meet the kit requirements of longer fell races, the Kamleika pants look nice but are waaaaaay too long for my stumpy legs, so I need to find alternative. Also lusting after lights, want another for the bike bars for commuting and a right bright headtorch for running as I seem somehow to have possibly agreed to go out with the lads on the fells on a Wednesday night. Posting here in the hope that maybe a reader has suggestions/comments on suitable bits of kit, and maybe Father Christmas will cast an eye this way when trying to decide what to put in my stocking this year.

as above ;)
...i have the omm smock. it's not the lightest but is very comfy to sleep in (only on mm's of course!). however, it is very clammy so i rarely use it to run in. i normally go for a pertex top-the montane featherlight is brilliant. as for trousers most of the time at races you can get away with pertex, loads lighter and much easier to run in. i would spend money on pertex and just get some cheapo waterproofs in case you end up having to carry them. have a look at this site-if you haven't already...

also, up and running should do a 10%fra discount :)
and finally i managed to get a pair of pertex trousers needle sports in keswick for £10, it's worth a look next you're up there.

Second Featherlite stuff, I have a jacket and trousers(though I've never worn the trousers in anger) and its amazing at blocking out wind considering how light it is. The OMM trousers are too slim fitting for my sporty thighs and too long for my also stumpy legs. Have fun on the fells

Thanks for the kit tips. Looks like Father Christmas needs directing towards Montane stuff then!

I have exactly the same problem with whether the buy the OMM Kamleika Race Jacket or the Smock. I have the race pants already and they are decent. Perfect for throwing over the top of some lighter running shorts / leggings.
